Our President - Daphne Short

Since 1981, Daphne along with her late husband Maurice Short and their two girls Vanessa and Victoria, have been involved with the swimming club and the world of swimming.

Daphne took her preliminary coaching qualification not long after joining the club and she became a coach with the senior squad; Dennis Dix was Head Coach. Additionally, Daphne became Club Secretary in 1983 and joined Middlesex ASA as County Secretary in 1986, a position she held for 13 years. During this time Daphne also qualified as an official, timekeeper, judge and starter. She also went on to take an Announcer's qualification in the USA!

In 1993, Daphne become Middlesex ASA President (Maurice held the same position in 1996).

In 2007, both Maurice & Daphne supported the Club's decision to change the name to Hillingdon Swimming Club in recognition of the Borough wide activities.

Daphne took over the role of Hillingdon Swimming Club President after Maurice sadly passed away in March 2013, this is a role that Daphne always said she was privileged to hold. Daphne was a fantastically supportive President and enjoyed attending our Club Championships, Presentation Evenings and club events.

Daphne will be very sadly missed by all her friends at Hillingdon Swimming Club.
